Lower Anogia (Anoyia) - Traditional Weaving Village
Anogia (Anoyia) Village Crete Greece wool and weaving

Sitting approximately 800 metres (1600 feet) on the slopes of the Ida mountains, this is the third reincarnation of a village which has stood here since the 13th century.  It was destroyed in 1821, 1866 and more recently on 15th August 1944, the inhabitants having fallen foul of the German army of occupation.
