FEBRUARY 2003 - NW CRETE
The Panagia of the Assumption of the Virgin.  These churches are a beautiful feature of the village of Meskla. The smaller church is said to be built upon the ruins of a much earlier temple - dating from the 5th or 6th centuries AD. The larger, more modern and ornate church is a more recent addition.
