The Rodopos Peninsula A
short tour of the Rodopos peninsula must include the
five villages spread from north to south across it's
base. Small mountain villages sitting 1000ft or so above
to Afrata is a 'T' junction dominated by two of the four tavernas of Afrata. The 'Good Heart'; 'Manolis';
'Minora'; and the internationally renowned 'Roxanni's
supported by the Canteena on the beach.
Left at the
'T' Junction takes you to the quiet village of
Astratigos. Two churches, no tavernas and superb sea

honey; solid Cretan culture and the annual pilgrimage to
the church of St Ioannis.
village with little apparent attraction. Outstanding
countryside in a walkers paradise.
Clings to the cliff-side a few hundred feet above it's two beaches. The
drive down is an experience.
